You are probably wondering why we call ourselves the Three Column Network. What do the three columns stand for? Sometimes we say they stand for knowledge, skill, and understanding, the three main kinds of learning that happen within our doors. Sometimes we say they stand for joy, learning, and community, which are three really important parts of our mission and vision. And sometimes we say they stand for our learners, learning guides, and families, the three groups that build and sustain everything we do. Maybe you will come up with something even better when you join us!

WHAT ARE THE THREE COLUMNS, ANYWAY?

CAMPUS TOUR? CAMPUS LOCATION?

SO ... WHAT IS THE THREE COLUMN NETWORK?

Many people say “Schools are broken! And we need to fix them!” But what if schools (the big, impersonal buildings that look and feel like factories from a vanished Industrial Age) aren’t broken at all? What if they’re functioning exactly the way they were designed to function 120 years ago? At the Three Column Network, we don’t intend to “fix” existing schools at all. Our goal is to build and sustain joyful learning communities where learners, teachers, and families build something meaningful together and share the ownership of the learning and the learning environment. Forget everything you thought you knew about schools, and join us on a voyage of discovery!

This site serves as Mr. Schwamm's final project for the "New School Creation" massive open online course offered by High Tech High and UC-Berkeley's Graduate School of Education.  But the Three Column Network isn't "just a project."  We intend to open Three Column Sandhills in the fall of 2014.

Still seeking pioneer families!

If you have neighbors, friends, church members, cousins, or anyone else who might be interested ... yes, there are still a few spaces left for next year!
